Tony Zeitoun Award winners in Geneva Flying in from Bolivia, India and Nepal the winners of the ICT Stories Competition 2003 gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, last December to receive their Tony Zeitoun Awards and present their stories at the ICT4D Platform (a parallel event at the World Summit on the Information Society - WSIS). From Bolivia, Ms. Giory Osiniga represented
winning story 'El correo del agricultor - The farmer's mail'. From
India, Ms. Jyoti Jaju and Mr. Sanjay Jaju represented winning story
'Self help groups show the way'. From Nepal, winning story 'Thamel:
reducing the social, cultural and economic cost of emigration' was
represented by Mr. Bal K. Joshi and Mr. Bob Granger. Both the
Indian and Nepalese projects had applied their own funds to sending
a second representative to the event. More on Geneva, with pictures, can be found here. A 2003
special: GKP joined ICT Stories! This year the Global
Knowledge Partnership (GKP) partners with infoDev and
IICD to support ICT Stories. By bringing the GKP network to the
project the input and dissemination channels of the Stories are
expanded. But GKP also introduces a significant financial prize for
the winner of the Tony Zeitoun Awards; an award for a project most
contributing to poverty alleviation. Read more on
this cooperation.
ICT Stories Competition
- Tony Zeitoun Awards The respective managements of infoDev and
IICD have decided that, as a tribute to the late Tony Zeitoun from
the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the awards
for the ICT Stories competition will become known as the 'Tony
Zeitoun Awards'. If you are interested in receiving information about ways in which ICTs contribute to sustainable development, you can subscribe to a monthly e-mail digest. |
