iConnect AfricaThe core of the re-newed iConnect will be a series of locally written, qualitative articles on the impact and the use of ICTs for Development. The articles will have a strong focus on fact finding; objective info on ICT4D from a southern perspective. The articles will be disseminated primarily to local and international policymakers to inform them about the opportunities ICTs have to offer to Development. Publishing of the iConnect Articles on the regional level takes place via 'regional' partners that have already established knowledge sharing activities. For Africa the regional iConnect partner is the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). As the regional arm of the UN in Africa, it is mandated to support the economic and social development of its 53 member States, foster regional integration, and promote international cooperation for Africa's development. UNECA has been a longstanding IICD partner, also actively involved in the production of the 'first' iConnect Africa website and newsletter. Publication by UNECA will be in both French and English and is specifically targeted at regional decision makers and practitioners in development, to be reached through UNECA's existing dissemination channels.
