An interview with Charles Geiger on the post-WSIS process by Reza Salim.
Charles Geiger is the former Executive Director of the Tunis Phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). Today, he is Special Adviser to the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD), the Commission tasked by ECOSOC with WSIS follow-up.
Reza Salim is Associate Director of the Bangladesh Friendship Education Society (BFES).
In this interview Mr. Geiger goes into why the World Summit on the Information Society was successful, why the WSIS process in itself was more important than the outcome documents, what was the 'WSIS spirit', the biggest difficulties in WSIS implementation and follow-up, the 'development' value of WSIS, and more.
